Well I could give you all a good reason for me not posting in a few weeks, such as I have been to busy or that I was sick and not filling up to the task.  Well those are just lame excuses.  Time to get on with today’s post.

As I talked about before I love technology.  I thought I would let you guys know what I use on a fairly regular basis and why I use it.

Droid Razr Maxx This is my phone and is something I use on a daily basis. Of course I use it for phone calls and text but those are fairly infrequent.  I mainly use it for playing games when waiting, check and update various social networks, and keeping track of anything that interest me. Goals for the year

February 13, 2013 — Leave a comment

As my last post was about my dislike of resolutions, I decided to follow it up with a post about my goals. With my goals I decided I would focus on three things; 1. My health 2. My money 3. The Internet.  Also with focusing on these I can use them as a launching point for further goals down throughout the year.

Health

Just like a lot of other people, I made a goal about being more healthy.  This is something I haven’t take seriously in the last few years. It is mostly due to be being lazy and always eating out.  I use to be “healthy,” weighting 180 pounds and being active with running and my job.  I didn’t eat healthy but I was so active that it made up for the extra food I was eating. January is almost over and February is right around the corner.  It’s amazing that we are done with the first month of 2013

Just like any other new year a ton of people of make New Years Resolutions, well I didn’t make any this year.  Honestly, I haven’t made a resolutions since high school.  I just have never liked the idea of making a resolution every time a new year comes around.  A few reasons why I decided I would not make a resolution is because they are an “idea” to some people, something that they come up with in their head of the ideal them.  The other reason why I don’t like them is because they are not actionable, they are just vague. I want to lose weight or get in shape. I want to get out of debt.  All very vague statements, there are no steps, no deadline, nothing to measure the progress of said statements.

Instead of having a New Year Resolution, I strive to have goals.  Goals have much more depth and purpose to them. Goals have measurable action points. They tend to have a beginning and an end with steps to take along the way.   If you planned properly, you can see your progress with goals.  I enjoy setting goals and seeing them progress over time with checkpoints along the way, kind of similar to check points in video games.  Another thing I love about goals is that you can build momentum off the original goal and use it towards other goals that can use the same skills or resources.  Some of the bloggers I have follow do this, they have their blogs and then move to making podcast and videos.

Well all this goal talk is made me want to tell you all about my current goals.  To bad I am going to wait a few days before I tell you what they are, when I hope to accomplish them and how I will be tracking them.

What is your opinion about resolutions and goals?

I think it is amazing how many times I have deleted and retyped this first post on my website.  Always trying to make it “perfect” but never pushing the publish button.  I always had an excuse to why I didn’t post it.  The post had no structure. Sounding too formal or sounding stupid. What would my friends think?

As some people know, this isn’t my first experience writing a blog.  All of which had no purpose and direction. From my first blog that still can be found on Xanga to my flop of a blog on Blogger and WordPress.com.

This blog is going to have direction and purpose to it.  I have actually put some thought and time in planning some aspects of this blog.  I hope to grow my own personal brand of this and have other ideas flow from this site.

So let’s focus on what I have planned for this.  I want to at least post once a week but I am shooting for two times a week.  I want to write about topics that interest me but at the same time that they will benefit you, the reader.

I am planning on writing about technology and personal growth/self-improvement. Which are two topics I spend a lot of time researching and following.  I also believe these two topics work really well with each other especially with the wide spread use of smartphones these days.  Of course I will throw in other topics for fun.

Well here it is, in all its glory.  It has finally been written.

Question of the day: How do you think technology has changed personal growth/self-improvement?
